What is the Eventing Team all about?
The Eventing Team strives to help all of its members reach their goals. We have members competing from the Beginner Novice level up to Preliminary, as well as members who enjoy traveling to shows to groom and volunteer.
Do I have to try out to join the Eventing Team?
No, we do not require tryouts to join the Eventing Team. Anyone can join as a non-competing member. If you wish to be a competing member, we ask that you have prior horse experience and are able to walk, trot, canter, and have jumped before.
Do members of the Eventing Team have to board at the same barn?
No, there are many boarding facilities around Starkville and all members do not have their horses at the same barn.
Do members of the Eventing Team have to train with the same trainer?
No. To be a competing member, we strongly encourage you to be in a lesson program of your choosing. However, we are working hard to offer clinic opportunities to everyone on the team to allow all members a training opportunity.
Do I have to own my own horse to participate in the Eventing Team?
No, however the team does not supply horses. There are opportunities around Starkville to lease or use lesson horses from various barns. Contact us and we will help you find something that fits your needs.
What do I have to pay to be a part of the team?
The only fees that the team requires are semester fees of $25 for non-competing members and $50 for competing members. All other costs are up to the individual member: where you board, where you take lessons, how many shows you participate in and where, etc.
Do I have to be in a lesson program to be a part of the team?
No, but for our competing members, we do strongly encourage it. The officers are working diligently to offer clinic opportunities throughout the semester.
Does the team accept donations?
Yes, the team accepts donations and is always looking for support. Check out our Support page for more information!
